Here is a little list of some crazy stuff that I have come across in the last week:

A commercial for pajama pants that look like jeans! I am serious, the commercial said you can wear your pajamas to drop off your kids at school and "look" like your not wearing PJ's!
The Show TLC's Hoarding Buried Alive! I have never seen anything like this show. I am left wondering where do these people get all this crap from? and why is it so hard to get rid of? Yikes!
That when I take a timed typing test I type 100 times slower than I normally would type ( I think its because I am nervous? Not sure)
And finally that I really like flash mob dances, I don't think I could ever do one but I think they are so entertaining!

A Story About Toilets

The other night I am sitting in my room minding my own business when I started hearing some odd noises coming from the bathroom. It sounded like someone was really moving around in there, so I thought to my self, just ignore it, because you are normally so nosey.

I ignored the sounds until I hear my name being called!
So I run to the bathroom to see that the toilet has over flowed! Luckily it had been turned off and was no longer overflowing but there was a lot of "gross" water all over the floor. My first question was, what happened?, which is kinda stupid because its clear that I can see what happened, but I guess I wanted some sort of explanation that I never got, lol!

Any how we started mopping up the mess and got everything all cleaned up, but for some reason about half way through the cleaning I had to stop and really laugh because it is just too funny to see a grown man realize he finally needs help after about 10 minutes of banging around trying to solve the problem on his own.

Pardon my language but I finally had to say, "oh well SH*T HAPPENS!"

Here are a few of my favorite things at the moment and I thought I'd share with you all!

First would be the little bun that I've got baking!

I'm 14 weeks along and finally feeling pretty good these days! I'm hoping to find out what were having ASAP. I'm much more anxious this time around and just cannot wait to find out!
I've been all over pinterest lately and little things like this beanie just kill me. So adorable.

I just came across this amazing proposal video today. Its a flashmob at downtown Disney, seriously can it get any better for this chick? I'm sooo jealous and get a little teary every time I watch.

The Vampire Diaries, oh my gosh this season has been SO good! I watch a lot of tv but this has got to be one of my favorites right now.

And of course, can't forget food! We just had our local fair in town and of course I got a healthy deep fried funnel cake. The baby wanted it.

There have been a lot of changes in the last few months.

I moved from New Zealand back to the USA.

The biggest change is I got married! Of course all my cousins were there with me helping me every step of the way! The three of you are my best friends and make life fun.

I never knew how much I missed you until I came back and saw how much fun we have together

We were taking some serious photos till someone screamed out put your leg up!

Next thing you know this happens.

We all dressed 50's for the retro themed wedding.

It was a great day!

Sparks Fly!

So its been a while since I've posted. The last exciting thing I have done that I actually have pictures of was from the Taylor Swift concert Lacey and I went to. It was so much fun! We had bought our tickets from Ticket Master, and unfortunately they weren't selling any two seats next to each other. So we each bought our own separate tickets, and ended up being only two rows away from each other. Before the concert started we were able to switch with a few of the other girls who were stuck sitting alone, and got to sit together. Half way through the concert Taylor Swift moves to a smaller stage across the concert hall, which was really close to where we were sitting, so we were really excited when we saw that we would be that close for a part of the show. The cool part was, when she started singing on the small stage, Taylor's mom was picking from the audience about 20 people to go in the area where her mini stage was and get front row seats, and we got picked!!! We were both so excited we were shaking hahaha. We were 15 year olds that night.

And then the night ended with Justin Bieber being the surprise guest. I've never heard anything as loud as the crowd that night. The teeny-boppers were crying.

King Neptunes

2 of the cousins, Lacey and Shannon, met up at King Neptune's.

King Neptune's is a dive bar/ restaurant down by Huntington Beach.

We had dinner and talked and drank.

We had Amanda's son Ryder and Lacey's son Dean and they were playing and causing a ruckus the whole time.

Ryder eat your chicken!!!

The funny thing was everyone would eat Ryder's fries every time he looked away hahhaha.

The kids had fun running around and going wild.

We also walked around the Huntington Beach market place, and listened to one of the best student garage bands ever.

Shannon has arrived back in Ca after living in NZ for the last 3 years!

She is getting married in October too.

All of us girls got together on Friday to go shopping for Shannon's wedding dress.

Here we are all seeing each other for the first time in over a year =)

Its so fun to all be back together again!

Wedding Dress shopping went really well! Shannon found the perfect dress and Amanda found a 50's style dress for the wedding too! Lacey found a really cute coat and Kristen watched all the madness.

After dress shopping we all (including but not pictured Kathy, Mother of the Bride) went to Mexican food.

Guess who we saw as we walked in the restaurant? Out of ideas?

We had such a fun day and now we are planning the Bridal Shower!

Don't Do This on an Interview

We are interviewing people for a few jobs at work and I have seen a lot of crazy stuff so far.
Here is a list of what NOT to do in case you didn't already know this!

1 Don’t bring your dog, and leave it in the car barking...we can hear it!

2 Don’t come into the interview looking like you just had sex in the back of your car...DUH!

3 Don’t only check out what you look like in the front... we can see your un-tucked shirt in the back

4 Don’t have tooth paste or some sort of white stuff on your face

5 Don’t call the company before applying and insist that you need to know more about the job even after I tell you that I can not give you more information and to apply through the ad.

6 Don’t call and ask for the HR persons name and when I spell it out you can not get the spelling right 3 times, and you are applying for the reception position.

7 Don’t arrive 30 minutes late

8 Don’t call to say you are running late

9 Don’t be late

10 Don’t ignore the receptionist, everyone matters

lace skirt refashion

I got this Banana Republic lace skirt at Salvation Army for $2. It has been sitting around here for a few months as I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Then finally when I tried on my blue dress on 4th of July I got the perfect idea.

My blue dress is pretty short and I have seen on lots of girls wearing a lengthening slip. So I went ahead and cut the bottom off and sewed it to a cheapy walmart slip-

Fits perfect and looks cuter!

Sorry for another faceless post but I do my sewing on random days when the hubby takes the little one out of the house. So I am in my pjs and then just throw this on for a quick pic =D

Wedding!

I am getting married!

Woo hoo

October 1st I will be getting married.

I have decided to have a 1950's themed wedding with a modern twist.

I will be wearing a cute tea length dress similar to this style.

We have decided to have mainly white on the table with a pop of color from a cute napkin holder.

Instead of the light pink I think we will have some dark pink and some teal.

I love this mirror, it is raised up with a ribbon around it.

I found it on the Martha Stewart site.

I think the ribbon color should be Silver, teal, or pink.

I am thinking my wedding colors will be teal, dark pink, a little red, white, silver, and maybe some light pink.

I love the idea of a candy table.

I am not sure if it will work but I think it looks so super cute.

For the bouquet, instead of real flowers I think we will be making a broach bouquet.

That way it is original and I can keep it after the wedding.

And of course I think the floor should be checkers, that way it will really look 50's

Dress look alike

I have been in love with this dress from Spool 72 since the second I saw it. But $54.00 is just too much for my cheap ass. I always have certain items in mind while out shopping and had been searching for a coral colored skirt.
I found this for just $4. I feel like a weight loss add the way I'm holding it around me. It is much more coraly then the red it appears in this pic.

I hacked about half of the width off and shortened it. I really wished it would have been a full length maxi skirt though! It is weird material where it looks all wrinkled up but it's supposed to be that way. Anyway here is my version of the dress-

Now that I see myself in this I think I will

1. wear shoes next time

2. alter the skirt a little more to fit better, the waist is awkward and I'd like to shorten it a tad more.

Also don't mind me not having a head, I was having a bad face day.

I have seen the trend all over the blogs, everyone is painting rugs and they all look so cute! I had planned on buying a blank ikea rug and creating my own design, but then I found this at Ross for $5!

It took like an hour slowly painting in the lines. I think I'm going to paint inside the border still. But it is much cuter and brings in a little color to the room.

While at Ross I found this Steve Madden purse, I looove the colors and shape. Am I the only one who when asked where I got something wanna bust out and sing "Do you love it!? I love it! I got it at Ross!" hahah

Here I am with my little baby model Dean. He loves to pose for pics these days. I'm wearing some of my new favorite skinny ankle pants, clearance rack at h&m $10!Last trip to the thrift store I bought this frame from ikea, it was brand new and only $6, compared to the store price of $30. I think I'm going to spray paint it.

Have a great weekend everyone! Hope this ugly June gloom weather goes away, it was raining last night! I'm going to two parties today, gotta wear my stretchy pants for all the food I'm about to eat.

Going out to dinner with Grant's dad to a quiz night

A quiz night takes place in a pub
You have teams and answer questions, turning them in at the end of each round
We didn't come in last! Yay!

Wednesday = We were contacted by the immigration for an interview appointment
Thursday = We went to the immigration interview and it went well

From the interview I went to work
When I got home I decided to make banana bread
The oven broke half way through with the coil falling in the bread!
We went to Grant's dads house to exchange cars

Friday = Waking up early to drop off Grant's car to get fixed

Went to work
On my drive home my finger nail fell off!

I smashed it in a car door a few months back

When home I started a fire because it is freezing

Fires take me a while to start but really get going

I made tacos for dinner
We heard the rat again so obviously we still have a rat in the ceiling !

I would say it has been a good week =)

Ryder started Muay Thai!! It's so cute! He get to workout like the big boys! The funniest is watching him attempt sit-ups and push-ups! His push-ups look more like a hip dip lol. He loves it so much especially the running and kicking. His red boxing gloves say "lil' scraper" on them.

Here's he is with his coach Tyler. The Studio he goes to is called King's MMA and he trains under Master Rafael Cordeiro, in Huntington Beach.

I am so excited about moving back to CA from New Zealand that I thought I would get way ahead of myself and look at ideas of how I might want to decorate my future house ahhahahahha!

I think my favorite type of shopping just might be thrift store shopping. Forrest Gump's famous line applies perfectly when walking into a thrift store.

I live very close to a Salvation Army and I go about once a week on Friday or Saturday for 50% off day. I used to have a one track mind when walking in and go straight to the furniture, check out the random stuff which they call bric-a-bracs, then I was out. Now I go for at least an hour looking at everything, especially clothes when my previous thoughts were, ewsicknever!

Here are some of my favorite skirts I have bought. I never care about the size of a skirt because they are super easy to sew to size, just don't buy too small - duh. All of these were $2 each.

I love my handbags. The pink one claims its Marc Jacobs, I don't know how to tell but it's cute so I don't care.

Found these for a buck, hope they're good!

I nearly cried when I left the store without this chair. You know the feeling when you find something and get excited like, I just found the best deal ever and it makes me feel like I'm high on crack! Ok maybe that's extreme, but I know I get excited haha.
It was in perfect condition, super comfy, great quality and I got the lady to drop the price by half! I thought of my house and what I could throw away to make room for it. The crazy shopper me would normally just buy it, surprise the hubby, then argue about how it wont fit anywhere. But sadly even I knew it wouldn't fit, so we parted ways. But at least I still have this picture.... I think I might be insane.

Day Tripping

We took a day trip to Catalina last week! It was Keith and I and our friends Lindsay and Wes. We took the Catalina Flyer out of Newport Beach.

Luckily we planned ahead and took a taxi there so we wouldn't need to drive home.
Our whole mission for the day was to have an adventure and party...hard!

Here we are on the boat in Newport Harbor on our way!!

Our first stop was.... well I cant remember lol But I know I had a mojito!!

It was so beautiful out!! And... they serve drinks on the sand!!!! I think we were having some mai tai type drink on steroids. Haha I forget the name but that's kinda how the bartender described it! Perfect, I'll take two!!

Sooooo.... after the sandy beach excursion we tried to find this happy hour place that was up the hill, off the main tourist road. We walked up and couldn't find it. So we headed back down the hill... hitch-hiking on our way!! We got picked up by this guy!! His nick name was Santa Clause. He took us to the happy hour that we were looking for and brought us back to the boat in time!! He was super friendly!!

So the boat ride home must have been a blast!! If only I could remember it!

And finally we made it home safely thank god for taxi drivers!!

Maxi Dress

Is it just me or does everyone know what a Maxi Dress is?
About a month ago I noticed everyone talking about maxi dresses. I starting thinking is every floor length dress that all the fashionistas are wearing made by some company called Maxi, that I don't know about?

Well I have officially just googled "What is a Maxi Dress?" and the answer is:

"A Maxi Dress is an informal or formal lengthy dress worn by women. Yippee! I finally found a maxi skirt/ dress. I think its supposed to reach the floor as a dress on most people, but it doesnt on me. I figured I can wear it as a really long skirt..and as a below the knee dress. It's Calvin Klein and I got it at Marshall's today.

The Royal Wedding

In about two months I will be cruising through Canada and New England. I've decided I need some new stuff to enjoy the ride with me. Since it will be mid June through early July, it will be pretty hot, and probably humid too. Here are a few things I found I just have to have while browsing the world wide web.

I LOVE this bag! I have a horrible purse obsession. I need this. It's just perfect! It has the cutest design on the front, a long strap to hang from my shoulder, and its big enough to put all kinds of stuff in for the plane ride. (I don't really want this just for the cruise, I just WANT it in general.)
I've wanted a maxi dress forever, I found this on ASOS but I would never order it without trying it on because I'm 5'10" and it would probably reach my cankles, and that would not be cute.
There are formal dinners on the ship on our nights at sea, so I thought this dress would be perfect for that. Cute, light and summery!

I also liked the color and fit of this for a formal night.
And every cruise needs a cute bathing suit. This one is from victoria secret.
Of course I didn't order any of this because obviously everything I want is too expensive, and I will never look like that girl in a bathing suit.

Over on a blog that I really love called The Sisters 4 ...say more is more

They are having a shoe week, so I thought I would join in!

No I don't have the coolest shoes, but every shoe has a story!

The above shoes were bought when I finally got a job where I can't wear flip flops.

The above shoes were bought after a Vegas trip I went on, where I almost died from uncomfortable shoes.

I literally could not walk in the shoes! I have to walk back to the hotel bare foot.

These boots are awesome, comfortable and water proof, which is a necessity in NZ.

My mom bought me the shoes above and below.

We have the same size feet so she was able to try them on and send them to me in NZ.

I am so inspired by all the awesome shoes that I don't own that I have been doing paintings of shoes that would be perfect for a lovely closet wink wink.

Having a weird habit of pointing everything out, someone gets a hair cut at work I say You got a hair cut really loud, Yesterday one of the service guys at work was wearing long pants instead of shorts and I loudly say hey your wearing pants! Someone stop me! - Shannon

I survived a remodel

After about two months of living in a mess, we finally have a kitchen! Just to remind you guys, here is the before shot. We had metal cabinets, the double oven that never worked, limited cabinet space and junk everywhere. Now everything works, I don't have to store my food in a dresser and I have much more counter space to work with. We tried to do as much ourselves as possible and if we couldn't we tried to get the best deal we could find. We did the tile floor and cleared all old cabinets ourselves. Had a guy custom build the cabinets to fit. Had a friend get us wholesale prices on the granite and his guy to come out and do the cuts and installation. My hubby is still finishing up the back splash, and of course that classroom style light will be gone. I have the kitchen of my dreams but didn't spend my life savings on it.

We busted this wall out. Yes I am wearing sunglasses, and a scarf for protection, 5 minutes later I put socks on my hands because of all the chunks that were flying at me. I love how opened up it is, that and now I can watch Teen Mom and cook at the same time. The wall is still unfinished. That big white ghost in the window is dust from when we cut the wall. Maybe one day we'll clean that. So now I should be back to the blog and hopefully I can keep up again! I survived the remodel and were still married =P

OK it's been awhile, sorry again! So this story is kind of old but still pretty funny.

At Ryder's school they were having a little St. Patrick's day party and he wanted us to sign up to bring jello.
It's just jello, that's pretty easy right? Hahaha well if your me everything is harder than it seems.

I had a great idea, jello jigglers in the shape of shamrocks! Cool! So I went down to party city and got the cookie cutters, which were perfect. I picked up a couple of cookie sheets while I was there to pour the mix into because I didn't have anything big enough at home to make 24 of these things. A cookie sheet seemed perfect because it was smooth on the bottom.

Then I was off to the store to buy 6 boxes of green jello! We made the jiggler mix and that's when everything stopped going smoothly... The cookie sheets were too weak and were bending as I tried to pick them up to put them in the fridge.

Before I could put the cookie sheet back down a tidal wave of hot green jello took over my kitchen!! The jello went everywhere and unfortunately the refrigerator door was still open and it got into every drawer and shelf including a lot of the food!! So I scrubbed the floor about 5 times and it was still sticky!! Then I headed back to the store, this time I had to buy 12 boxes of jello the first 6 weren't going to be enough even if it had worked the first time! I still needed something to put the mix into... Roasting pans!! They were perfectly deep enough to not spill. They had weird raised sections on the bottom but i worked through that and finally.... Shamrock Jigglers!!

Whew glad that is over, I'm still finding jello spots though!

Necklace Tutorial

The other day when I put on one of my favorite necklaces pictured below I started thinking I could easily make this.

So I went to the local craft store and bought some leather string and some red beads.

I measured the string to be the same length as the necklace I really like keeping in mind that when you tie the knots the string will get a little shorter.

I then simply added the beads tying a simple knot between each bead.

The necklace took about 3 minutes to make and looks really cute!

I will definitely be making more of these in different colors as soon as I find a craft store with a better bead selection.

I've seen tutorials on a couple of blogs how to make a simple pencil skirt. I got pretty bored yesterday after work and decided I would give it a try. I went to the fabric store just down the street and tried to find some nice stretchy material. I found this really pretty coral color and found a really pretty piece of lace that was the same color as the other fabric. My plan was to make the skirt and then put the lace on the outside of the skirt so you could see the fabric through the lace. I bought 2 1/2 yards total and thought that would be perfect incase I mess up the first time around.

I have no patience for anything, so instead of measuring my body like I was SUPPOSED to and SHOULD have, I thought I'd just take a skirt of mine that already fit good and trace that. So I cut it out and started sewing. Half way through the bobbin thread ran out and it took me about a good half hour youtubing videos on how to change that crap out before I could finish sewing.

After I got that done, I finished the skirt and went to try it on. Lo and behold the gosh darn thing wouldnt fit over my big ol' butt and hips!!!! Pissed off, I started over.

I measured myself and cut out the fabric. I sewed it, tried it on, and it barely fit- which was fine because once I got it over my love handles it fit on my waist perfectly. So to add the final touch I wanted to lay the lace over the skirt and sew that on as an outer layer of the skirt.

Once I finished the lace I tried it on. IT DIDN'T FIT ANYMORE. I wanted to die!!!!! I didn't realize until I was finished that the lace wasn't going to stretch over my hips. I have now learned to never waste your money on fabric to try and make yourself something useful when you can just buy it for less at forever21.

I threw everything away.

Quick update

I have been missing and it's for good reasons. My house is taking up all my spare time.

We still have no kitchen, not even gonna get into that whole mess. Let's just say I'm not happy right now!

We got our plumbing problem fixed but still need to fix the busted wax ring in our toilet.

Our water heater took a dump on us. More than 5 days without hot water and not even a damn stove to heat some up myself. Cold showers are painful and make my head hurt.

I finally just got to take a hot shower so I'm like 25% happier now.

Hopefully I have something good going on by the weekend and will get to post some new kitchen pictures!

To sum up my week, I felt like this haha

Side Table Before and After

Back in November I found this really cute set of side tables at the thrift store.

Because they were a little banged up and cause I am sick of everything in my house being brown I decided to paint them bright blue.

First I sanded the tables.

For my first few coats of paint I used white, making sure to let the paint dry between coats.

That is the hardest thing in the world for me to do, let paint dry!

Finally I spray painted the tables bright blue.

I love these little tables!

I keep them separated one near my couch for coffee cups and the larger one now holds a lamp.

They brighten the place up.

I never had Shepherd's Pie till I moved to NZ, but its easy to make and tastes great.

Try it!

A new take on Shepherd’s pie

1 can Mexican beans

Ground beef or mince (NZ)

Taco seasoning packet

Onion

3 large Potatoes

½ cup Cheese

Butter

Milk

Cook up the beef and chopped up onion in a pan, as you cook add in the taco seasoning and ¼ cup water. Once it is all cooked add in the beans.

Boil the potatoes and mash them adding in the milk and butter, same as you would always make mashed potatoes.

Put the cooked beef mix into a baking dish and put the mash potato on top.

Sprinkle the cheese on top. Put in the oven on 190c for 20 minutes or so.

I only had a small dish but normally you would use one that is larger and rectangle.

Life during a redo

I interrupt this blog of cute clothes, projects and kids to show you the dump I like to call my home. We are in week 4 of the kitchen redo and it's not close to being pretty yet. Were now living without a kitchen at all. I do dishes in the laundry sink, all food must be microwavable and then there is the mess...

The spare room is full of the kitchen stuff, Brandon's clothing and any other random thing you can think of.
The back porch is a danger area with piles of the old floor with nails sticking up and random tools everywhere.
The dining room with a dishwasher, oven and piles of crap. There is only one chair that has enough space to sit down and eat at.

We ripped the old floor up and had to remove in this order - linoleum-plywood-linoleum-linoleum.

Brandon has almost all of the new floor laid down.

So we don't know exactly when our new cabinets are coming but we still have a bit of stuff to do before they can be put in.

-finish tiling and grout

-move a light switch to other side of the wall

-patch walls and spray texture

Can't wait until I have pictures of the finished product and I don't have to live hoarder style anymore =)

Sorry it's been so long! I had to work six days this week, plus school, so I've just been busy and tired! Anyways, I totally forgot I was doing that 30 day thing hahaha I'm so bad at this. So I figure I'll continue with that since I haven't had much of a life lately =)

I love watching Chelsea Handler and the Kardashians. I watch E! every Sunday. Sadly, its pretty much the only channel I watch, I love reality tv, and celebrity gossip.

I dont have a number one favorite night, but this one sure would be up there! This was when all of us cousins got together and had a drunk karaoke party. It was a pretty funny night!

5. A picture of your favorite memory

Zip lining!! I was deathly scared to do it. I was dreading when the day was coming up on our vacation to Alaska. Im scared of heights, but I did it and I loved it! It was SO MUCH FUN.

HAHA JUST KIDDING. I couldn't think of anyone I'd really love to trade places with, so I thought I'd put up this crazy guy as a joke.

Some Yummy Cake

On Sunday I made a cake recipe that my mom had sent me months ago. Sorry to say I have no idea where she got the recipe from, but the cake is delicious and I insist that you make this cake! Now lol !

Oatmeal Cake Recipe

1-1/4 cups boiling water

1-cup oatmeal

1-1/2 cups flour

1- teaspoon baking soda

1/2- teaspoon salt

3/4- teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 - teaspoon nutmeg

1- teaspoon vanilla

2- eggs

1/2 cup butter

1- cup sugar -granulated

1- cup brown sugar

Topping

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup coconut (optional)

3 tablespoons milk

1/3 cup chopped nuts ( pecans or walnuts )

Directions

Combine the boiling water and the oatmeal in a separate bowl, let cool. Cream together butter, sugars, add vanilla & eggs and beat well. Add the cool oatmeal mixture & beat well , Add flour , spices , salt , baking soda then mix to combine

Do not over beat . pour into a well greased & floured 9 inch square cake pan, Bake 55 minutes to 1 hour

at 350 F, cake springs back when touched in center .

Do not remove cake from pan. Combine all Topping ingredients in a small bowl and stir well, spread evenly over cake. Broil until topping is very bubbly and Golden Brown.

Last Days of Remixing

A few weeks ago I finally finished the 30 for 30 Remix!

These are my last 4 days of remixing.

By the last ten or so days I found myself becoming much more creative on what I was mixing together.

Time for Awkward and Awesome

Awkward

Wearing pants that are too short when you sit down, therefore your socks end up showing.
Pulling on the wrong door at a cafe, you know the one that is locked.
Driving to see the sunset only you are too late and the sun has set before you get to see it.
Finding you have run out of trash bags on the morning of Trash Day
Going out for st. Patty's day and realizing the line is so long you will never get in, so you go home

Happy you didn't get in the bar on st. Patty's day after all because there was no hang over at work
Getting my passport back from immigration with a resident visa for NZ
Managing my time better so I can fit in some exercise after work (2 days so far, is nothing to brag about)
Getting home right before a major storm hit so I didn't have to run to my car in the rain

Disneyland, Tsunami, Snow Boarding, Potty Talk, & Sun Burns!

Hey!! Sorry I've been away I had to take a "personal leave" lol. So I'm going to wrap up what I've been doing the last week or two!!! First of all about two weeks ago Ryder had a favorite “potty word” that he was using at school. So to make it really clear to him that he wasn't getting away with that Keith and I decided to go to Disneyland without him!!

Well we actually went two days without him! The first day was just Keith and I and the next day we brought our friend Trish. We did all the cool rides that Ryder's too little for and we saw A Bug's Life 3D show. We had a lot of fun!! And now Ryder has not used that “potty word” again!! So it worked!! lol!!

The morning after the Earthquake in Japan the entire west coast was on a tsunami watch. So Ryder and I left to my dad's shop. We had to stop and take pictures of the ocean first just incase we didn't get to see it again for a while! Luckily nothing happened where we live. :)

The Wednesday after the tsunami my long time friend from high school invited me to go snowboarding with her! Her husband got in free since it was his birthday and she had a buy one get one free coupon for us! We had tons of fun. I hadn't been snowboarding in about a year or maybe two, I can’t remember. I fell pretty hard a couple times but after a couple shots of vodka I was right back where I left off!! Oh but the next 4 days I was paying for it!! It was so warm outside when we went skiing that I was wearing a tank top and got super sunburned!! I'm still peeling... I might be crazy but the next day I thought if I went to the tanning bed I could even it out. Luckily the lady wouldn't let me tan because I probably would have made it worse.. lol

Ryder is now learning to write the letters A,a and B,b. He's doing a great job!! Keep up the good work baby! :)

I haven't been out shopping much lately because of all this house remodeling going on. Besides Vegas of course, that was just a trip of shop all day and gamble all night.

A New Zealand Before and After

Last year in August we moved from living with flat mates to living in our own place.

We had literally nothing but clothes and a few kitchen utensils, so being the thrifty person I am I hit up all the fabric and second hand stores.

When we first moved in the windows were bare and the apartment was and still sorta is ugly ahhaha.

I made some curtains with some discounted fabric I found.

Below is a picture of us crafting away. Well Grant is not crafting he is just working on a painting.

These candle stick holders were found at a thrift store for 1 dollar.

The gold did not go with our place but in the end black doesn't really either hahahha

I might re paint them again who knows

Last but not least I found this tray and the second I saw it I knew what I would use it for.

I computer tray! I spray painted it a brighter blue and found some material that I glued into the opening.

My computer loves it!!!

Last night I accidentally slammed my finger in the car door, so you can imagine how hard this was to type lol.

Half of the cousins are in Vegas so I thought I would fill in on another Shannon post.

I HAVE A PROBLEM.

I love purses! Seriously. LOVE. If I had all the money in the world to buy all of my favorite purses..I'd be one happy bag-lady.

If I could choose between buying clothes or handbags..I'm pretty sure my closet would be floor to ceiling full of bags. I would store my handbags in a bigger handbag!

Since I have this addiction that I can't afford, I end up browsing websites so I can admire all of these pretty pieces and wish they were mine.

I thought I'd share some of my favorites I've seen lately. I'm pretty picky when it comes to buying a bag. I have to be able to put it on my shoulder without my elbow getting in the way, and it has to have some kind of pocket on the outside so I can easily store and find my keys when needed.

Bargain

The other day I was driving home when I passed this little (not to mention ghetto) shopping center near my house that consisted of a liquor store and a shop called The Bargain House. I thought, what the heck I have nothing else to do, I'll check it out. I walked in and started digging. The place is tiny. Seriously, like the size of a classroom. I looked around and started checking stuff out and actually found some pretty cool stuff! Everything was SO CHEAP! They had some racks with clothing, and the clothes were actually new, not used! All of the tags said Macys and Nordstroms. I found mens Ugg slippers and even name brand bathing suits! I found this cute dress I'm going to take on my cruise to wear on the formal night. It was only $8!

I have also really been wanting to buy a leather jacket but have been to cheap to fork out 40+ dollars for one. But then I found this cute one at the Bargain House and it fit perfect. I'm super tall and lanky so usually I have a really hard time finding clothes. Pants are always WAY too short ( I have to buy them in "long" and sometimes those aren't even long enough) and the sleeves are always too short on long sleeves too. But this jacket is a small and fits perfect! Got it for $15

I took my coworker with me and she found an Oneil bathing suit and got it for $4. I couldn't believe it! I can't wait to go back =)

Droppin the hammer

We have been smashing walls around here. Since I've been too busy for anything else this is all I have to post about =)

This is my dining room before

Here is the after. The short piece of wall is going to be a bar type counter.

All our doorways have these drop downs that make everything feel smaller and boxed in. So were busting them out- this wall is behind that blue wall with the mirror in the previous picture. Leads into the laundry room/the back yard.

Another big wall hanger I dunno what you call it

My hubby the termite man discovered Subterranean termites in that wall. All that you see is dirt that they brought up from under the house and they build these mud tubes. They destroyed the entire beam.

This one he tore out today and here is how it looks so far. It's crazy because I never noticed we had such tall ceilings until we did this.

And the day I have been waiting for for the last 2 years of owning this house. We ordered new kitchen cabinets today! So long metal cabinets, enjoy these last 2 weeks because you're gonna be scraps. Also, the reason why I have 2 ovens is the built in one never worked when we moved in.

Remix Days 7-24

I am participating in the 30 For 30 Remix that I found on the cute blog Kendi Everyday.

The main point of remixing your own clothes is to try to be creative and use what you already have.

I have found remixing to be a lot of fun and at times very frustrating. The first 15 days were easy but the last few days have been a little bit of a struggle. It has really made me think about what items I have already worn and what with. So far I am pretty sure I have been able to wear something different everyday. Of course I don't do the remixing on the weekends so its more like 20 remixed days.

V Day Excitement

Hey!!! I'm back!! So I had a long exciting week!! LOL... So we happened to talk my mom into watching Ryder for valentines day weekend!! So I drove Ryder up to my moms on Thursday and spent the night. Ryder was so excited to go to go see Keith especially when he found presents for him for valentines day!

So Friday afternoon Keith and me left for our little getaway and drove down PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) it was a beautiful day!! After work on Saturday afternoon we headed down to Dana Point where we had hotel reservations at the Marriott. Before we checked in we went to taco surf mmmm!!! Had a few margaritas then we were on our way! It was so cute at the hotel we could see the pool and the ocean. They had a cute little restaurant downstairs where there was an amazing ocean view!!

Food was sooo yummy and we got hooked up with free breakfast, free dessert with dinner, free champagne and free 30min massage at the hotel spa!!! After breakfast we took a little walk and saw the harbor, it was beautiful weather! There were some cute little cabanas in the grass on the lawn overlooking the ocean. It was a nice relaxing weekend and we didn't want to leave!! But we had to so, Sunday evening we drove back to my moms house to get my car and Ryder.

Nice sunset!! When we went back to my moms Ryder sounded a little raspy poor guy. We wanted to do something on Monday night with Ryder so we went miniature golfing! Ryder did pretty good I think hes a natural. :) Me and Ryder came home on Monday night but I left my phone charger at my moms!! Uggh so I had to wait until Thursday for Keith to bring it home for me.. So Ryder has been sick all week now its Friday. Last night he woke up coughing and gasping at the same time! It was scary!! I hope he gets better soon!!

I've got stripes

I have had a few people asking me about my striped curtains. First off I'm just excited that someone actually likes them because I made them =D I didn't take pictures of the process but hopefully this makes sense on how to make them!

I got my inspiration from this blog - her house is gorgeous

There were no striped curtains anywhere to be found! So I took the plain brown Ikea panels that were already hanging in my living room, fusible web (the iron on, no sew stuff) and then the light tan material which was pretty thick almost like a drop cloth.

I measured, figured the number of stripes and cut them out about 3 or 4 inches wider than the width of the brown panel. To cut my lines straight I traced the edge of a yard stick with a pencil and just cut along those lines. The way I hemmed was I folded over and ironed down all the edges of each stripe, not using the webbing yet, just so the edges were nice and wouldn't fray.

Next I started ironing the fusible webbing on to the back side of each stripe. Then lay the large panel out flat and pin down the stripe making sure it is straight across and slowly stripe by stripe iron them all on. This takes awhile!

You can see in this picture how I finished the edges, I just folded over to the back side and ironed it down. I made these last summer and there has been no problems with them at all. But I am afraid of what might happen if I washed them because I don't know how that webbing stuff would hold up?
So that is how I did it! If you can find material with huge stripes...I'm jealous! But if not, hope this helps.

For Valentines day, Nick and I both had to work so we decided we would celebrate on Friday instead. After school and before going to work on V-Day, we met at Supermex for a quick lunch. We went straight to my house after so he could get ready to leave, and of course, sitting on my coffee table when I walked in was a big bouquet of roses and a table full of candy - ! Of course I was thinking "how sweet!" but then I thought - What happened to celebrating on Friday!? I had NOTHING to give him. So then he's getting ready to go to work and tells me he also bought us tickets to see Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks in concert! Ok, I'm feeling horrible now. So finally I decided that on friday I would take him to get a massage. It was both of our first times going to get one. Boyyyy was it nice! Since they were all booked, we had to take turns and go back to back. I went first. The first thing I do is get in the room and the lady tells me to get comfortable and to lay face down under the blankets and that she will be back. So I get undressed and lay on the bed, trying to get comfortable. I put my face in the hole, and suddenly the whole thing falls towards the floor. Like a recliner chair when the foot rest isn't in the up position! I started freaking out thinking "oh god it hasn't even started yet and I already broke the bed!" Eventually, when the lady came in she fixed it. It was such a nice massage, but I just couldn't get totally comfortable and relaxed cause it was just kind of awkward for the first time. I think next time I will enjoy it a lot more. Nick said he fell asleep and she had to wake him up when it was over.

I've been really busy lately with work and school and trying to have a social life in between the two of those. I have been getting more hours that I would like at work, so I've just been pooped out. When I do go out, I forget to take pictures of what I'm doing, therefore I have nothing to blog about! So I found this challenge online I will do. It's for 30 days- one picture a day. Happy Valentine's Day!

After work I came home to a trail of rose pedals....leading to the rest of the flowers that those pedals got torn from! hahah! Really, we aren't huge on the holiday but we do enjoy candy and dinner together. After eating all the caramel candies from the big heart box I went straight to my coffee table I've been repainting. Almost every piece of furniture I have is on its second color. Table started out natural wood, then went to this -

I changed it because the brown paint, for some reason never fully dried and was sticky and starting to peel off. So I decided to go for a white, old worn look that hopefully lightens the room, since that's my new thing. Here is the best picture I could get since it was already night time.
I threw my flowers up there for 2 seconds before Dean could get his hands on them! I think the paint I used was semi gloss, so it is shinier but cleans easier and isn't sticky and it hasn't even been 24 hours. Then I mixed glaze with a dark brown paint and went over all the cracks and grooves, wiping with a damp cloth to make it look worn. Last I sanded all the edges and that's it!

So our Valentine's went something like this-

While I worked on my table Dean drove a monster truck through the wet paint.

The hubby started to BBQ dinner and then the propane ran out.

Dean ripped 4 keys off my laptop keyboard.

Brandon knocked a glass candle jar that shattered all over the bathroom.

Dean peed on the floor.

I had to vacuum 3 times in 3 hours.

Ok I'm a little obsessed with these hilarious cards.

Shell Jewelry Project

A few weeks ago I was at the thrift store and found an old key holder for $1! I thought whoo hoo what a score! When I got it home I instantly knew what I would do with it, of course make it into a jewelry holder.
I was not sure how I would paint it until I was at the beach a week or so ago, and saw tons of little purple/pink shell. I would make a shell mosaic on the wood key holder.

I used plain cheap white glue.

First I painted the front of the wood holder. Once the paint dried I put the glue and shell on, easy stuff.

The end result is a pretty jewelry holder for my wall.

Valentines Nail Job

So today I feel like I'm living in an Anjelah Johnson skit!!! I go to my normal girl who's been doing my nails forever! I have had a couple pedicures from her and another girl who work there but I'm usually unsatisfied. So I USUALLY go somewhere else for my pedicures.

Today I was feeling lazy and there were a lot of girls not working so I agreed to do my toes, with some doubt. So I changed my mind like two times on what color to do my french tips, red then purple and finally a lighter purple. So the girl whose doing my toes finds colors to match my fingers. Red then a dark purple then problems started! So the lighter purple must be really hard to figure out. She first brought one that was almost black, way off! Then shes speaking her Chinese language all upset about the color so I just go with it. Its pretty ugly tho but whatever. So she gets the paint on and asks if I want a design I should have went with my gut and said no! But, I thought maybe a design would help this ugly color out a little! I told her to do something for Valentines. So she tells me she'll do a heart with a jewel. I was thinking okay i can live with that something cute. Hahahahahaha boy was I wrong!! She starts painting a heart that looks like a figure 8. I started laughing to myself because I just knew better. Then she lines the ENTIRE figure 8/heart with silver rhinestones. By this time she had been trying so hard I felt bad so I just let her do her thing. All the while I'm laughing to myself and then I realize that I'm not the only one laughing haha my nail lady was laughing too!! Pretty soon ALL the girls that worked there were stopping by for a little laugh it was just bad so I wanted to take a picture of this monstrosity before I get a color change today!

Garando and Diamonds

When I first moved into the garage I wasn't really sure how to decorate it..or what to do with it really. I had no furniture to put in it. I had a measly double bed, a tiny desk, and an itty bitty tv stand. Thats it. So Nick and I (mostly Nick) started finding stuff on craigslist and shopping at Ikea. I eventually got a king size bed, a fridge, coffee table and more furniture to fill it up. Neither of us knew how to decorate so we asked his grandma,who used to own her own craft shop and did some interior decorating as a living, for help. She really transformed the place. She did most of her shopping at thrift stores and somehow made everything look like new! Her brother made this bar for me. He stained some really nice wood ( don't ask me what kind because I'll never remember haha) and built this really cool bar/table for the room. I went to Sears home furniture and got some nice bar stools for it.

I bought and built a shelf from Big Lots that I use to store all of my food in. I didn't know what to do with the extra space on top so I attempted to decorate something myself haha.

The theme of my room is black and white and the walls are tan. So when she decorated the room she pretty much used a lot of dark items to keep the theme going. After a while I've come to realize that although the room looks great, I am not a huge fan of this dark look! I like bright and cheery things. So I am slowly adding more color to the room. I bought a bunch of fake flowers from the Dollar Tree and made a few small bouquets to cheer up the place. This one is on my coffee table.

And this is whats under the coffee table.

Since the room doesn't have any storage besides a big closet without shelving or anything to store stuff in, we keep all of Nick's records under the coffee table. It doesn't look too bad since they are pretty hidden, and it makes it a lot easier to get to them when we want to play a record.

Here is another small bouquet I made for the table. I love the colors, they are so nice for spring.

If you have never heard of the website Groupon, it is a site where you type in the city you live in and they have daily deals for you to buy. Well, the store I work at had our first Groupon deal on Thursday, and the deal was you spend $4 and will get $8 worth of food. You had one day to buy the coupon, and then will have until August to actually use it. Well, we sold 2,000 of them. Since they went on sale on Thursday, customers were not able to use them until that Friday. On that Friday I was scheduled to work form 4 - 11 pm. We were SO busy I got called in to come to work at 3:25 and did not get to go home till 12:20--MIDNIGHT! I worked 9 hours with one measly 15 minute break. I was DEAD. We had a constant line out the door and around the corner for 4 straight hours. I came home in the worst mood ever with a bag full of Del Taco, to find Nick already in bed sleeping. So I ate my food in the dark, moody, and was ready to crawl into bed. When I was about to lay down Nick woke up and said something was on the coffee table for me. When I looked, this is what I found!!

The pictures do not do it ANY justice! It is soooooo sparkly and pretty I just love it! It is a promise ring, not an engagement ring. The thing is, is that he had already got me a really pretty ring for Christmas. It was the same shape, but with one band instead of two, and and middle was made of pink sapphires instead of diamonds. The only reason why he got me this new one was because the pink sapphires on the other ring became really dull and turned kind of purplish in only a month, so we were both disappointed. I had already picked out this new one to exchange it for, but I was shocked because I didn't know I would already be getting it since I still had my old ring on my hand when I came home to this one! He is so good with surprises!

I love to shop at thrift stores, you never know what unique items you might find and even just looking at all the junk is fun. Most of the home decorations I have are from thrift stores but almost everything I buy gets a fresh coat of paint. I've learned to look past an ugly design or funky color because you can pretty much cover anything. Here are a few things I have spray painted to fit into my house -

I got this table for $12. Spray paint, distressed and added a stencil.

I didn't realize how easy it would be to come up with outfits with only 30 items to choose from but I guess it is only the first week so it might get a lot harder.

I generally pick out my outfit the night before I go to work so I can see what is going to look good and what will never look good. I then go to work and take my picture of myself when I get home from work. I take the picture by balancing my camera on the ground and then using the timer button. This is good and bad! Most of the time I can get at least 2 good pictures, but the truth is for every one good pic there are about 10 bad ones, and most of them are pretty funny!

Just so you could all have your laugh of the day I have included my weeks bad pictures and no this is not all of them hahahaha

Valentines Day Cards

VALENTINES DAY CARDS

I was inspired to make some Valentines Day cards when I received a special home made one from my mom. These cards are very simple to make!

All you need is a few supplies

Water colors (a cheap set will do fine)
2 paint brushes one tiny one medium size
Black permanent pens
Some water color paper

Then simply cut and fold the paper into cards and draw some Valentines inspired designs on the paper and color them in with the paint.

This is a perfect project to do in some spare time or even with kids, because it is very quick and easy!

I was able to make five cards in about an hour!

Below is the home made card that my mom made for me, I love it so much I have it propped up on my mantel.

Ryder and the Training Wheels

Hello again!! So first thing first we had to give Capone (the dog) back!!! He was just too much for a little apartment. The old owners decided to keep him now so I'm happy with that! There was no way that I could walk that dog all day everyday he needs a yard!! Goodbye Capone!!

It was such nice weather at my mom's house it was a good thing we brought Ryder's bike!! She has a good size back yard so we let Ryder have at it on his bike, well as much as he could! What we didn't realize was that the grassy/dirt back yard has small size holes or dirt pits. Ryder's bike has training wheels still so he would be going along good for a few seconds and get stuck. His training wheels were getting stuck on the high ground so as fast as he would pedal the main wheel just kept spinning and he wouldn't go anywhere!!! After a few good laughs from us and a few good meltdowns from Ryder we decided to TRY to do it without training wheels!! So Keith and i traded off holding him up so he could feel how to balance.

I think this made the dogs pretty happy! lol!!

Well it didn't last very long he was soon in tears mad at his bike making sure his training wheels got put back on! So next time we decided to just take him to a park with sidewalks!!

Weekend

Since Nick and I both had Saturday off work we decided it would be a good idea to go out Friday night since its rare that we both have a night and day off together.

We ended up going to a bar in downtown Fullerton with Brandon, Sal, and Steven. Steven actually knows all of the workers at the bar so he got us in for free and also got us free drinks all night. I was pretty tired by the time we actually got there because it was around midnight, so I wasn't really in the mood to drink, but when I found out all of the drinks would be free...well I'm sure you can guess how my night ended up haha. I got a couple long islands, and after those I decided I might as well drink a beer because alcohol always tastes better once you've had a few drinks in you, even though I hate beer.

This place attracted a lot of people that reminded of me the Jersey Shore cast. Girls in teeny tiny outfits that they bought a size too small, so all types of thighs and cleavage were hanging out all over the place while grinding on random guys that were there.

Although the place was not really the type of bar we would normally go to, it was still a lot of fun to people watch, and get in the crowd and "dance". There was a lot of goofing off by Nick on the dance floor..he was going crazy dropping down to the floor and flinging back up in the air, everyone around us was staring at him like he was a freak of nature. We totally didn't belong in this type of place haha.

And then there was Brandon, who I'm hoping does not ever look at this blog because he specifically told me not to post this picture, but I have to because it shows how funny and goofy they were acting. He was doing some sort of spin move on the dance floor haha. Sorry!

We ended up having a really long night because after the bar we ended up going to Dennys and didnt get home till after 3 am!

We slept all the next day and then went to the monster truck show later that night.

It ended up being a really fun weekend! =)

Super Model!!!

For the last 2 years I have been a nanny and in November 2010 I decided that I had to try to get a different job where I am dealing with adults! Its fun to be around kids but not all the time, a person can only take so much “FUN” ha ha.

A week ago I started a part time job as an office support type person, the job is normally for an intern but because the intern they are expecting won’t be here till March a friend has asked me to fill in, knowing I am looking for an office job.

The great thing about going to work everyday besides getting out of the house and being around other people is getting dressed! I never thought I would say that but I now love trying to put cute stylish outfits together. When I was younger and in high school I wore the same thing everyday, jean shorts and a shabby t-shirt I guess cause I wanted to blend in, but now I love standing out by trying to be stylish.

I have started to look at lots of fashion blogs for inspiration but the funny thing is I never really copy any of the outfits, I guess its because I am working with what is in my closet.

Here are some of the outfits I have put together and worn in the last few weeks.

The funny thing is I take all my own photos of my outfits when I get home from work, so I have to balance the camera on a chair or the ground and hit the timer button then run and pose before the picture takes lol. Maybe one day I will have a post with all my bad pictures so everyone can get a good laugh.

Lacey shares all the good blogs she finds with me and I try to share the few she hasn't already found with her as well. This morning she sent me this blog challenge and I think it is great! The Challenge is 30 for 30!

Here are the rules:

1. Pick 30 items or less from your closet. Shoes are included, but accessories and jewelry are not.

Camera strap and a stencil project

Over the past year or so I have discovered my crafty side. Guess it's true you turn into your mother, mine is quite the crafter! Brandon and I bought our house at the beginning of 2009 and it was a filthy, stinky, hideous thing. I wasn't a do-it-youselfer yet and wasn't sure how I was going to live in such a place. The bathroom was one of the biggest transformations. It grossed me out so much I refused to shower barefoot, no matter how much I bleached and scrubbed. All the work was done by the hubby with the help of our friend Bob. Even though we still aren't done (install light fixture, back splash and finish baseboard) here is a taste of how grody this place was -

We moved the plumbing around to give us room for a bigger sink.

I will post more house makeovers later, most rooms are still works in progress.

My mom brought me a huge trash bag full of material scraps so I have been trying to think of things to make. I had been eyeing a camera strap for my Canon for a few weeks but couldn't justify spending the money for something I don't need, although I want everything =)

I found this tutorial and decided to make one with my scraps. It was really easy!

Next up is a stencil project I did in the white space behind those pictures.

I got inspiration from this picture I saw while shopping at Target.

I found a printable stencil on this blog that I used on my side table awhile back. I love the print so decided to use it again. Here are the supplies needed -

I found the center of the area and started tracing, tracing and tracing all the live long day. After you trace, you paint all the live long night.

The yellow table in the corner has the stencil on top. Please excuse the pile on the floor, that's my material scraps.

So as everyone knows...or at least I figure everyone knows...my boyfriend, Nick, is a beer-collecting-holic. Not an alcoholic..just a collector of beer. He loves the science that goes into making beer, and how you can make it taste like so many different things. He knows whats good, whats not, and which ones are good for selling for extra cash. He is a member of two different breweries, and because of that he gets a lot of special and rare bottles for free. Well if you have seen my room lately you would know that all of those bottles have been collecting and sitting in the corner...and by bottles, I mean cases. And if you really know me, you know I was getting real tired of seeing ugly cardboard boxes stacking sky high to the ceiling. So to fix that, I finally got him to get a case for them! It is a cupboard, but kind of like a hutch, so you can still see some of the stuff that is in it (which he thinks is the absolute best thing in the world because now his beer is on display for everyone to see). I am so excited! I can finally keep it organized, clean, and most importantly hidden haha. Besides that, it just looks so much better.

There are actually a lot more bottles in the bottom half of the cabinet..but thankfully they are covered.

And since this is my first post, I thought I'd also throw in a few of my favorite things.

1. Chocolate (seriously who doesn't have chocolate as a favorite thing?)
2. One of my weights, which is symbolizing the gym because it is one of my new favorite things to do, and also because it cancels out the chocolate I eat before I got to the gym haha.
3. Money, because I love to shop and buy things.
4. Scratchers, because they get me so excited and trick me into thinking I will become a thousandaire if I play.
5. My laptop because I just love having a computer I can use while laying in bed.
6. Gossip magazines
7. My boots, which symbolize a day off work and my closet full of clothes. Since I have a uniform I have to wear to work, it makes me love my days off 100x more so I can actually get dressed up and wear all my cute clothes I buy. :)
8. My medical microbiology book. Its really one of my least favorite things, but I put it on here anyways in hopes that it will become one of my favorite things and maybe I will learn to love school. (we'll see about that one)
